Live From Space Studios: Riley Counihan

Meet Riley Counihan: an LA-based musician who came onto the Live From Space Studios radar by what can only be considered a stroke of pure luck. More specifically, me having one too many spiked eggnog’s at a tiki bar in Long Beach (which I do believe falls under the category of “boots on the ground” journalism). I met Riley at The Bamboo Club in Long Beach in December of 2024 and in the brief conversation we had she shared with me that she was a singer in a band called Adulterine. My interest was rather piqued and I felt inclined to do a deep dive into her discography; I was not disappointed. My immediate reaction was to share a few of her songs with renowned music connoisseur W. Spigner whose reaction was similar to mine. If I recall correctly, his exact words were, “I f*** with it”. He also drew comparisons between Riley and Courtney Barnett, which is accurate as well as very complimentary of Miss Counihan considering how great Courtney Barnett is. There are two songs in particular that I feel are the “pièces de résistance” (standouts) of Riley’s discog: “Sail Away” and her newest single “Accessory”. Live From Space Studios is looking forward to hearing what Riley’s next projects sound like and we have the utmost confidence that they will be worth a listen for anyone who enjoys good music.
